SriLankan Aviation College to offer Boeing Flight Dispatcher Certification course

16 November, 2021

SriLankan Aviation College is partnering with Boeing, to offer exclusive aviation training opportunities to students and aspiring aviators in the region. The maiden programme offered as part of this initiative will be the Boeing’s Flight Dispatcher Course. As part of the programme, students will also have the opportunity to engage in on-the-job training at SriLankan Airlines, ensuring their job-readiness upon the completion of the training.

“We are excited to embark on this partnership with unrivaled experts in the industry” commented Primal De Silva, General Manager, SriLankan Aviation College; “we look forward to improve on the range of training programmes being offered within live working environments, giving our graduates a unique edge in knowledge and experience”.

The first certification course will commence in January 2022 and consists of three parts – Flight Operations Management Part 01 and 02 are required to complete the certification course while Part 03 is the on-the-job training module. Each part can be enrolled for separately. Students who have already obtained a Flight Dispatcher certification may enroll for only the on-the-job training module with SriLankan Aviation College to further their qualifications. On-the-job training will be done in collaboration with SriLankan Airlines which is the national flag carrier of Sri Lanka, operating a mix of both narrow and wide body aircraft on short and long-haul routes within a network of international destinations

“We are pleased to be working with SriLankan Aviation College to offer this course as they train the next generation of aviation personnel,” said Chris Broom, Vice President of Boeing Training Solutions. “Providing real world work experience right alongside training certification will prepare them well for the critical role they play in ensuring safe airline operations and set them up for success as they enter their chosen career field.”

SriLankan Aviation College is the first and the only institution where students can obtain Boeing training in Sri Lanka. With state-of-the-art training facilities and access to experienced line trainers

who are also aviation professionals currently employed in the field, students will be exposed to international learning experiences as well as a vibrant training portfolio to further their careers.

“This is an exceptional opportunity for students, particularly in Sri Lanka and the region to receive training from a pioneer in the field of aviation” said Vipula Gunatillake, Chief Operating Officer, SriLankan Airlines. “It’s the first time that the Boeing Flight Dispatcher Certification course is being offered in Sri Lanka, and students who complete this qualification can expect to have greater marketability in the highly competitive aviation industry.”
