Widerøe selected global launch customer for the new E-Jet E2

Widerøe is proud to be selected global launch customer for the newly developed Embraer flagship, the E-Jet E2. December 2016 Widerøe signed an agreement for the delivery of three E190-E2, and an option for additional 12 aircrafts. It is a massive accreditation of Widerøe to be selected the very first airline to put this brand new aircraft into service, and a big leap in Widerøe’s long history of turboprop operations. The first aircraft is to be delivered March 2018.
CEO of Embraer, John Slattery, and his team have visited Widerøe facilities on several occasions upon this decision. The fact that one of the biggest aircraft manufacturer in the world, selects Widerøe as their launch customer, is undoubtedly a huge honor to our organization.
"We do not underestimate the challenge. I am very proud of all the competent people in Widerøe, now being trusted by Embraer to launch their very latest aircraft," CEO of Widerøe Stein Nilsen says.
“The Entry Into Service (EIS) program is already in progress, and we experience massive support and great cooperation with our counterparts in both Embraer and Pratt & Whitney", Project Manager & Deputy COO Andreas Aks adds.
Being the very first airline to put these new generation aircrafts into service, Widerøe strives to lower its carbon footprint and impact on the environment. The E2's class leading design, combined with the very latest in propulsion technology, will certainly make Widerøe, one of the greenest airlines in the world.
