Since 2016, Aerolíneas has incorporated 24 new aircraft

4 July, 2018

In the city of Bariloche, Aerolíneas Argentinas presented a new B737 – MAX, the fifth one to enter the company directly from the Boeing factory in Seattle.

Aerolíneas Argentinas is the first company in the region to operate MAX aircraft, one of the most efficient and modern aircraft in the world. The investment made to acquire these aircraft translates into USD4,250,000 worth of annual savings, taking the five B737-MAX jointly, since this model consumes 14% less fuel than other aircraft of the same kind.

Another remarkable quality of this model is that it reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 14%, which means that CO2 released to the environment is 4,400,000 kilograms lower per year. In addition, the noise footprint is reduced by 40%, making these aircraft extremely quiet and, thus, more comfortable for passengers.

This acquisition is part of the fleet renewal plan of the company, which has enabled the incorporation of four Airbus 330 -200, four Embraer 190, eleven Boeing 737 – 800 and the abovementioned five Boeing 737 – MAX aircraft, totaling 24 aircraft acquired since 2016. The fleet of the flag airline, comprising 83 aircraft, has thus become one of the youngest ones in the region, and the most modern one in the country, with an average aircraft age of 6.7 years.

“In a term of two years, we have incorporated 24 new aircraft and have already become the airline with most modern aircraft in the country and the region,” explained Guillermo Dietrich, Argentine Minister of Transport.

Mario Dell’Acqua, president of the Aerolíneas Group, expressed that “We have closed the first fleet renewal stage of the company. We still have ahead the challenge of modernizing Austral’s aircraft fleet and likewise begin planning the acquisition of long distance aircraft.”

These aircraft will help strengthen federal connectivity by covering domestic routes, such as Bariloche, a destination where Aerolíneas Argentinas will double its number of frequencies during the winter season, going from 43 weekly frequencies to 81 in July and 84 in August. In addition, thanks to their efficiency and autonomy, such aircraft will allow the company to fly to other regional or medium distance destinations, such as the new route Córdoba – Punta Cana, which will begin operating as from August 25.
